Local Mission

The members of First Presbyterian Church are involved in many local ministries, including:
Eastside Elementary School
Teacher Appreciation Lunch Sign-up:
Please sign up to provide something for the lunch on Thursday May 3rd below:
We are Partners in Education primarily with Eastside and secondarily with Burnett Elementary Schools. This means that we support their efforts in providing great education to the kids at their schools. Examples of ways we work together include: Providing proctors for exams, knitting winter hats for new students, career day, teacher appreciation events, small group projects eg. painting bus lane curbs. The schools are also invited to attend events at our church e.g. our Family Christmas Party and Eastside has sent their Dance Team to perform at our church on two occasions.
The Share House:
This is a local refuge for women and their kids who are victims of domestic violence. We support them in different ways including food drives for residents and small group service projects.
The SHARE House is currently planning a 5K, Mad Hatters fun run. Click the link below to register!

Douglas County Shelter for the Homeless:
This is a transitional shelter that helps women and their kids to become stable and self-sufficient. The shelter was established, and the original house donated by First Presbyterian Church in 1985. It is now an ecumenical ministry and we encourage small groups to share a meal with residents or inquire about construction projects which are needed on a regular basis.
The Gift Of Love:
This organization provides for the needs of low income children. Seasonally, the church collects donations of school supplies, school clothes, winter coats, etc.
The Good Samaritan Center:

The center provides food, assistance with utility bills, and prescription medication. Those in need can also receive help with gas, food and occasionally motel accommodations if resources allow.
