What to Expect When You Visit First Presbyterian Church Douglasville

Visiting a church for the first time can feel a little overwhelming. You may wonder where to park, where to go, what to wear, or whether you will know anyone. At First Presbyterian Church of Douglasville, we want your first visit to feel comfortable, welcoming, and meaningful from the moment you arrive.

Whether you are new to church or simply searching for a church home in Douglasville, we hope you will feel right at home at FPC.

    When You Arrive

When you arrive at First Presbyterian Church Douglasville, you will find dedicated visitor parking spaces conveniently located near the main entrance. We know that finding your way around a new church can sometimes be confusing, so we try to make those first few minutes as easy as possible.

Friendly greeters will be at the doors to welcome you. They can give you a worship bulletin, answer questions, and help you find your way to the sanctuary, information desk, or wherever you need to go.

And don't worry if you aren't sure where to go next. Just ask! We are happy to help.

Our goal is not to make you feel like a visitor who needs to figure everything out on your own. We want you to feel welcomed and cared for from the moment you walk through the doors.

    What Should I Wear?

One of the most common questions people have when visiting a church is, "What should I wear?"

The simple answer at FPC is: wear what makes you comfortable.

You will see people dressed in everything from casual jeans to their Sunday best. There is no strict dress code, and you don't need to buy anything special or dress a certain way to attend worship.

Come as you are. We mean that!

    Choosing a Worship Service

At First Presbyterian Church Douglasville, we have three worship services, including traditional and contemporary options. This gives you the opportunity to choose the worship experience that feels most comfortable for you.

Our traditional services, at 8:15 and 10:45, feature the beauty of hymns, prayer, and choir specials accompanied by piano or organ. If you enjoy a more traditional worship setting, you may find this style especially meaningful.

Our contemporary service, at 11:00, offers a more modern worship atmosphere, with a live worship band, newer praise music, and lyrics projected onto screens so you can easily participate.

No matter which service you choose, you can expect worship to last about an hour and include an encouraging, life-giving message.

If you are not sure which service is right for you, don't worry. There is no wrong choice! You can even visit more than once and experience different services.

    What About My Kids?

If you are visiting with children, we want you to feel comfortable too.

Safe, clean nursery care is available for infants and toddlers. Older children can participate in fun, age-specific programs where they can learn about faith in ways that are appropriate for their age.

We know that bringing your children to a new church can bring a few extra questions. Where do they go? Will they be safe? What will they do?

Our children's programs are designed to give kids a place where they can learn, participate, and grow while parents worship. We also have classes for youth, from 8th to 12th grade.

If you have questions when you arrive, simply ask one of our greeters. We will be happy to point you in the right direction.

You Don't Have to Know Anyone

Perhaps the biggest question people have when visiting a church is one they don't always say out loud:

"Will I feel like I belong?"

We hope the answer at First Presbyterian Church Douglasville is yes.

You don't need to know someone before you come. You don't need to know all the words, understand every part of the service, or have everything figured out.

You can simply come, worship, listen, and get to know us at your own pace.

We believe church is about more than attending a worship service. It is about finding a community where you can grow in faith, build relationships, and discover ways to serve others.

    Planning Your First Visit

If you are thinking about visiting FPC Douglasville, you can make your first visit even easier by planning.

Our Plan a Visit information can help you learn more about service times, directions, and what to expect before you arrive. Taking a few minutes to look things over beforehand can help take away some of the uncertainty that comes with visiting a new church.

But you don't have to have everything figured out before you walk through the doors.

We will be here to welcome you.

Whether you are searching for a church in Douglasville, looking for a church for newcomers, returning to church after some time away, or simply curious about First Presbyterian Church Douglasville, we would love to meet you.

Come as you are. Bring your questions. Bring your family. And allow us to welcome you.

We look forward to seeing you at FPC!
