Hello Church family!
I’ve had several people inquire about what all falls under Congregational Care. It is basically any of our systems or teams in place that we, as First Presbyterian Church of Douglasville members, serve and support one another within our own congregation. Over the next several months, I will choose a different team to focus on so everyone can learn more about each of them.
The Hospital Discharge Meals Team aims to reach out to members that the church has been notified of to follow due to inpatient surgery, hospitalization or birth. Upon discharge back home, a Pastor will ask if the member would like a meal provided. If so, a volunteer on the team contacts the church member or family to arrange a meal to be delivered.
Food has always held a place in culture of nurturing and caring for people. The simple act of providing a meal can lessen the burden that health issues bring as well as show love and care to someone. First Presbyterian Church has had a long-standing commitment to service. This doesn’t just apply to our community and people outside of the church.
Are you hungry to help? We need volunteers to join this team! Can you double your recipe the next time you make your family’s favorite casserole and keep one handy in the freezer? Don’t cook? Arrange to pick up a hot meal from your local grocer and drop it by, or even order takeout. Feed your spirit by becoming a part of this team.
